Adjust-A-Grill

Almost every canoeist has tried to precariously balance a square grill on uneven rocks around a campfire. And although they might not lament about such to shop owners, if they see a solution, they'll probably be apt to look into it. One such solution is Panacea's Adjust-A-Grill, a cooking system that allows user to raise and lower a grill over a campfire at will. All you do is pound a stake into the ground near the fire and place your food on a patented grill that can be raised, lowered, or even swung away from the heat. The whole thing fits inside a washable 10-oz canvas bag for storage that easily fits inside a canoe, and the bag can even be turned inside out and used as a pot holder. The $49.95 Adjust-A-Grill works with any fire pan and fits inside all Forest Service approved fire rings.

"With a twist of the knob, the grill raises or lowers to change the cooking temperature, and keeps you from over-cooking your food. Set-up and take-down require only seconds."

NEW PRODUCT
Adjust-A-Grill

By Dave Webb

I've cooked over a lot of campfires, and often been frustrated because of two problems: it's difficult to maintain a level cooking surface, and it's almost impossible to control the heat from the fire. Well a Utah company has come up with a new system that make it easy to cook over charcoal or coals. It's called the Adjust-A-Grill and I was very impressed when I tried it out recently. So impressed that I'll be using it frequently on camping trips.
I was very impressed when I tried "Adjust-A-Grill" out recently. So impressed that I'll be using it frequently on camping trips. In the past I've packed my patio barbecue grill on trips when I wanted to grill food - the big old cumbersome thing taking up almost half of the space in the back of the truck. Or I've tried to prop a grill on rocks, stacking the rocks up to keep the grill just far enough from the coals, but not too far, and battling to keep the grill level. What a pain!
Adjust-A-Grill uses a grilling surface which can be moved up or down a support stake for temperature control. The grill provides a level cooking surface and will swing away from the fire to allow food to be handed away from the heat. Those are real benefits.
The grilling surface is big enough for a family barbecue - yet the entire system can be quickly disassembled, stored and carried in a little bag. It will fit into a small space in the truck of a car and can be carried easily to your campsite. You can grill food right on it's surface or use it to support a skillet .
It takes less than a minute to set up the grill. Just pound the support stake into the ground, slide the grill onto the stake then tighten the adjusting screw. You can set it up anywhere - you don't need any special facilities - just a spot of bare ground. It's designed to fit over an approved Forest Service fire pit, and can also be used over a fire box. I prefer to cook over charcoal and just put the briquettes on aluminum foil. Don't dig holes or mess with rocks. The foil keeps the briquettes out of the dirt so they burn well (plenty of air circulation and makes cleanup a snap -just roll up the foil and throw it away. If you want a tire, build it on the lid of an old 50 gallon barrel - it's just the right size and can be transported easily.
Adjust-A-Grill was invented by Tony Gibbs and is being marketed by Greg Sherry through Panacea Inc. It is being sold at Kirkhams and Sportsman's Warehouse, in the Salt Lake area.
